Spotlight on Students (STUBC Week 4)

Blogging is a choice. I state this with conviction; the choice to pursue a class blog is worthy of the time invested in the activity. Time is required since it is new to me as a teacher, and my students who are well versed in social media, but unfamiliar with organizing and maintaining a blog. Beginning with paper posts, moving into student guest posts, and finally earning their own blogs, my students are growing into curators who groom a post until it is ready for the world.
This kindling of engagement was sparked when the 6th graders performed a flash mob style of dance for Halloween.

Bringing the Halloween vibe to everyone!

  1. I would agree that blogging is worthy of the time invested. I have been a blogger with my class for quite a number of years now, and we have learned so much from it. Our main joy is that having an authentic audience really motivates our writing. It is not just the teacher, or even our classmates, enjoying our writing. It is the whole world in a sense!

Comments help us to grow and to start conversations with our writing. We also love getting to know people from all sorts of places. We like experimenting with new technology ideas by using them on our blogs.

We are so excited about learning, and we can see that you are too. We wish you many wonderful years of blogging ahead! Congratulations!

    • Your words and shared experiences are much appreciated and mirrored in our journey.

Listening to the give and take as students create posts, visit other blogs, and marvel over comments makes the practice a living activity. I hope to have years under my belt as you do.
      Happy Blogging Journeys!
