  1. 2019 will be the year of writing for me. I want to incorporate a daily writing practice for myself. My word for the year is connection. What’s your word for the year?

    • Great minds think alike! I also chose connection as my word and am excited to see how blogging will help my students and myself grow as writers this year. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.

  2. I have several goals for this upcoming year.
    1) Create a personal website for my teacher portfolio
    2) Purchase stocks, download investing apps and be more intentional about investing
    3) Limit amount of work that I do at home
    4) Follow a consistent work-out routine
    5) Read twelve books this year
    6) Be a better husband and father

    How about you?

  3. My goals for this year are –

    1) Get up earlier
    2) study very hard for tests
    3) work very hard in school to get an A
    4) make my lunch every Monday, wednesday, and friday
    5) read lots of books
    6) have a drama free rest of the year
    7) spend less time on technology and be more active

    Have a great 2019 !! :):):):):):)

  4. Great goals! I like how specific you have written them. By assigning specific days to something it becomes easy to measure success. My favorite is #5 🙂

  5. Hello, Mrs. D. and 6th grade Roadrunners,
I enjoyed looking at your blog and reading some of the micro fiction stories you wrote. It would be fun to make connections with you. My class in Bahrain is grade 5, all English language learners. We will be in a blogging challenge called Slice of Life in March. Maybe you’d like to give it a try. https://twowritingteachers.org/challenges/

My word is sow, as in planting good seeds in my life. My students also are working on their one words for 2019. You can read them in a couple of weeks at our student blogs here: http://krebs.edublogs.org.

All the best to you and making new connections in 2019. Also, I do believe your writing will improve as you blog. It’s a great and fun way to publish writing.

    Blessings,

    Denise Krebs

  6. Hello, Mrs. D! Thank you for checking in on my blog. I know–Google Classroom is a great resource. Now, if I could get my older high school students to buy into it!

The comments about the word of the year resonated. My word is courage–courage to teach boldly, to move students away from their small views of the world, to embrace other (less conservative) perspectives–at least to see that there are other perspectives. . . . Courage to be who I authentically am. After being “Mom” and wife for so long and now an empty nester with a nearly 30-year-old and a 26-year-old-married-for-almost-two-years sons, it’s taking awhile to figure out my new identity. That’s scary!

I really need to print out that infographic on my blog as a daily reminder of things to think about!
